Codeathon happening, Ptld, weekend before Oscon, many folks will be blogging about it. Theme, Geeks Saving the World, lots of projects not just LoTV. LoTV specific, though: identity pieces, reputation currency metrics; FOSS networking stuff. Some companies sponsoring people to come early, money etc from sun, mozilla, others...

Idea: look to amazon, too; infrastructure, their cloud computing.

Pickle Center clustering technology; meeting with Silona; Jim Boisseau. www.tacc.utexas.edu to find him.

Videoconferencing options: about $200 a meeting, e.g. Adobe connect pro.

Silona invited to Foo camp (friends of O’Reilly). The camps are about networking.

Michelle has Randy’s donation and another as well, and a missing $400 donation from... somewhere. Via Microsoft’s giving plan.

Randy has LoTV on his quarterly giving plan.

Same weekend as codeathon, there is a top FOSS meetup with all the big names; working to invite them to crash the codeathon in superhero outfits.

Linux world in the same timeframe. Three weeks of conventions!

Need a Doryan from Portland, and other volunteers; Beth expects to deliver some, OsCon will develop some, and various people traveling to it.

Bigger challenge is to get other groups to bring their open source teams out; eg. mySQL.

Is there a wikipage? Yes! Codeathon.pbwiki.com being built by Josh.

Lots of good contacts out of JavaOne.

Meeting in Canada went very very well, details not bloggable: can say we are developing “transparent government how-to” details. See Transparentgovt.pbwiki.com.

Silona needs to write a book! It could be a graphic novel (comic book)... talking about the open data/government stuff. Marla has knowledge in this area as well (e.g. sample informative works). Beth has strong editing skills.

Schedule for Mid June. Randy and Silona doing a thing... scheduled for June 14/15 afternoons.

Josh wants to do a monthly e-mail newsletter just as a simple thing. Signs of life are good from a distributed group (says Edwin) and Silona thinks mid-month is probably good. Scheduled 3rd sunday of the month... for simple status.

Silona has had good progress making an API for bug tracking... a distributed bugzilla; useful for codeathons, etc, for all these far-flung projects. Need: someone/team to interface this to the existing bug tracking tools.

No agenda items up for vote today. Just a status/information meeting.

Following meetings scheduled generically first sunday of the month.

Tada! done.

Oh, TODO: we need a packet for sponsorships for codeathon (silona?)
